Dusty15
Found this on Tumblr and it's really fun!Open your iTunes/iPod/other music playerHit "Shuffle"Type out the first lines/phrases of the first 10 songs it plays as your poem.NO SKIPPING SONGS! Honesty is what makes this fun and interesting.----Here's mine. I'm gonna call it "My 9th Comrade"--There was time I could stop on a dimeI gotta a notion to say what doesn't feel rightDon't let me down.Me and the Major could become close friends, Number 9! Number 9! Number 9!So I was lost, go count the cars.I get no kick from champagne.I've watched the eagle flying into the sunsetTime moves slow.Comrades! Link to comment
Anonymouse
I'm going to do it a little differently because I haven't reinstalled iTunes and I'm too lazy to do that right now, so I'll listen to ten songs on iHeart Radio and report back with my poem. [watch this space]ETA:There was truthIt's alrightLife's too short to even care at all'Cause it's a bittersweet symphony, this lifeForty days and forty nightsWhen I was young I knew everythingTake me to your best friend's houseI'm gonna fight 'em all. What's with these homies, dissing my girl?I'm itchin' on a photographThat took a strange turn. TheCakeIsAlive
Ooh, that sounds fun. I'll have a go:In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun. You've got pudding, I've got a hound, you've got a chicken that told us around (? couldn't find the lyrics and this is what I heard. )Maybe some day I'll go back again to IrelandMagic is the door through which mortal men may sometimes step to find the gates of the otherworldHave you ever, ever felt like thisFollowing the leader, the leader, the leaderKermit the frog here, who let the frogs out?I was alone, I took a ride, I didn't know what I would find there..There was a time when I was sure that you and I were truly oneSometimes I feel so out of time and place, trapped in a maze. ... I kept having to go back because I forgot I had to pay attention. Link to comment
PuddinPop
You've got pudding, I've got a hound, you've got a chicken that told us aroundBest line ever!!!!This does look super fun!! I wish I could do better by you cos that's what you deserve25 years I'm alive here stillMust it take a life for hateful eyes to glisten once againI thought it would be easy, but it ain't for meSo she said "What's the problem, baby?" What's the problem, I don't know, well, maybe I'm in loveNumb and broken, here I stand aloneHere we are, and I can't think from all the pills, hey, start the car and take me home.I want a girl with lips like morphine, knock me out every time they touch me.If you're alone and you need a friend, someone to make you forget your problemsI'd never tell you a lie, I'd never let you down, I'd never leave, I'd always be around. And, yes, there is a combination of Killswitch Engage, Vengaboys and Meatloaf on there. Wig_Powder
I love doing stuff like this! Let's see if I can make it read like a real poem...Macavity!Those fingers in my hair...Tell me do you think it'd be all right?I was feeling low down and blue. There's a bright golden haze on the meadow,Here I go again, rushing headlong.Well,Bouger Leger, Leger. (Tr. Move lightly, lightly)Listen up, Mrs. Brady, I have got a hunch,You can torture me.Well, that got...dark.(all this and I had to cut out an instrumental piece from Master and Commander to boot.) High on Lullabies
Right, here goes:Quand décembre revient (When December dreams - I think My French translation isn't that good)Hey you, hey youHey little apple blossomBlue guitarI moved in that very dayCalling ElvisHear me God I'm on the levelTha sistas are in so check tha front lineOn the turning awayYou have the bravest heart I've ever knownSo not much sense there, but an impressive range of artists I think. Roch Voisine to Space Brothers via Dream Theater, White Stripes, Dire Straits and Rage Against The Machine amongst others. Link to comment
Selene
I think I might call mine "Out of the Game or Ave Maria" (since "Ave Maria" was the 11th song to play )You took the sun from the hole in the skyI was living with these fingers on my eyesI heard this old story beforeAm I alone in your heart?Easy said and easy done is how we like thisYou won’t believe what I tell youFar away is the moonI’m not over you (and I know that I should be)So come on down and let it outI’m out of the game------It was great fun to try this and I like what everyone got so far. It's amazing how the brain can easily come up with logic connections between these random lines. For example in Dusty's poem, it struck me how the war and army theme was conjured up several times: "There was time" - meaning that it is a story from the past, for example a combat veteran telling his story, then obviously the "Major" and the number 9 (maybe his company), the feeling of getting lost, the "eagle" and of course the "comrade" reminding of military signs and divisions... Sorry for this lenghty poem analysis, but I'm quite impressed with how well this is falling into place. Link to comment
March Hare
'Untitled 2013'I know you're gonna blame meThe changing world, numbers all aroundStop as you drop this bombThe times are tough now[something] waves of desperation fall before the rainI forget where I'm goingI press my face against the glassFor those of you who have the benefit of the Internet, you may be familiar with this alreadySecret therapyGot your mother in a whirl~I only skipped the ones whose lyrics I couldn't make out. N.B. There are too many songs in the world with unnecessarily long intros.(Oh, and HoL: 'revient' means 'returns' here.) Link to comment
Healer
Okay, so I decided I'll do this. I didn't know what to do about instrumental music (of which I have a lot), so I just didn't count them, and moved onThere is a man with a face and a name I don't rememberBeauty is a harlotIt's just a matter of time before you notice the way I tip my hatA moment of silence please, for those who never get the chanceEvery time I try so hard, I get nothingIt doesn't really matter if you lead or followLike tattered sailsThe man in black he told me, the latest Moscow newsWake up, start running for your lifeIn a town in the woods at the top of a hillI suppose this is a poem about espionage, then. Or the Cold War. Or some combination of the two. Link to comment

Selene
Initially, I was looking through this section to find out wether we already have a thread to post our favourite poems (there is one to post own poetry, but I was looking for poetry recommendations), but then I came across this thread and thought it might be fun to give this another try? So I hit my music player and this is what I got: Winter's cityside Dearest constellation, heaven surrounding you It's close to midnight I like to dance all night You know that it would be untrue An address to the golden door It's funny how I found myself in love with you In a time where the sun descends alone Prettiest thing I ever did see Half moon, crossed eyes, fear is disguised Link to comment
Reader
This was really fun, but it makes me seem like a violent, horny person 😂 I used the thumbprint station on Pandora. Hot nights coming And this glass, it breaks Ripping the heads off all my Barbie dolls Sunny (Pretty violin music) Remix, baby, yeah Most of them gon’ talk, I know, I know You never know how things A part of me wants a part of you baby She said, I don’t want a model Link to comment
Chanel_no5
Oooh! How did I miss this thread for so long?? It wasn't until now I realised just how many instrumental songs I have, wtf… Okay, here's my... very depressing poem. Picture perfect memories scattered all around the floor So leave if you're leaving Another night slowly closes in The flowers are faded now The whole world is watching us now Don't think I can't feel that there's something wrong It's raining now, and it's over There's a space I can't reach across I've looked everywhere I can just to find a clue And I would do anything for love.
