InsertNameHere
I was wondering if this had happened to anyone else recently. I'd gone to my boyfriend's, who let me use the computer while he was at work for games (my laptop is currently awaiting repairs), and while I was there decided to have a check of the forum.Yet when I tried to access it, a warning came up saying that the service provider had banned it. The reason?Apparently this forum is classed as pornography. His internet provider is talk talk (I'm with virgin media and have had no problems, so was completely shocked to find I couldn't get on the forum).Has this happened to anyone else? Also, apologies if this is in the wrong section, I wasn't really sure where this should go. Mash
I didn't know that service providers could block pornographic sites unless the content on them was strictly illegal.Or at any rate, I don't know why they'd give a crap. That's really weird. Link to comment
SapphireSong
Yeah, the forum gets blocked by providers that have a porn filter or something like that on. I can't get on at the public library, for instance. Link to comment
Dusty15
I've only had the forum banned once and it was on a coffee shop WiFi (Tim Hortons) in Canada. I wanted to send a quick message to a friend here from my phone while I was having a coffee. I was surprised but didn't think much more about it. I'm surprised to hear it's banned by a service provider... does your boyfriend live with his family or anyone who would have a safety filter on their internet? That's the only thing I can imagine. (And I just Googled 'Talk Talk' internet and they have a specific filter you can use called HomeSafe that not only blocks spam/harmful fishing sites but also what it detects as potentially unsuitable sites. I bet your boyfriend or whoever pays for the connection has a password/way to unblock sites from this filter) Link to comment

I can't get on at the public library, for instance. Is that the service provider locking out the forum, or the library itself? Some places have private filters based on who uses the internet there that's not necessarily connected to the service provider. Most schools have a private filter on their internet, for example. Link to comment
SapphireSong
Ohh, yeah, it's probably the library itself, you're right. Link to comment
FreeFluShots
LOL, how lame is that? Next they're going to block people actually sneezing in real life because people like us might find it pornographic. Link to comment
zneeze
My Catholic college blocks porn on their wifi but this site has never given me any trouble. Link to comment
Heavy-Chevy
The only times I've ever had trouble accessing this forum were on public networks like at the Library. Most porn filter systems are design to block websites based on certain keywords so a lot of site end up getting blocked even if they don't have any actual pornographic material. I've seen it happen. Mash
Just to be clear, the OP as I understand it is talking about a home computer, not one at a local facility.Meaning that it was either his own computer that was porn-blocked (I hope you'll forgive me for considering that to be unlikely) or it was their service provider. NoV
The word 'fetish' turning up in the url may lead some service providers to automatically block the site if they have a porn filter enabled, as the word fetish more often than not will lead to pornography of some description. My smartphone mobile network blocks the SFF for this very reason.I recently posted about my concerns about a UK service provider porn filter and access to the site for those members still at the mercy of their parents' internet security choices here...http://www.sneezefetishforum.org/forums/index.php?showtopic=51801 Link to comment
MyOwnPrivateSFC
I know that this forum is blocked when using Panera Bread's wifi, while the Red forum isn't; the explanation I've been given is that it's probably due to the use of the word "Fetish" in this forum's title and/or web address. Next they're going to block people actually sneezing in real life because people like us might find it pornographic. Come on now, don't be ridiculous. The site URL has the word "Fetish" in it. Of course they're going to consider it pornography! It's common sense. I'm actually shocked that our filter at work doesn't balk at it. Link to comment
Squadilah
I tried to access this website on a train but it was blocked for being pornographic. Link to comment

Like I said, I've seen some of those filter services block legitimate sites simply because they had the words "porn" or "sex" mention a coupled times on a few of their pages. That's the downside of porn blockers that rely on just filtering out keywords. The ones that block based on URL names are a lot more accurate. Link to comment
