I was at Heathrow airport a while back, in the common area waiting for my gate to be announced. I sat down across from a mid-aged guy who looked Italian-American - tall, thin, salt-and-pepper hair, big nose. I was eating some breakfast things I had bought, and like often happens when I eat (because of gustatory rhinitis), I had to pull out my large white handkerchief and blow my nose a bit. Following my example a few minutes later, the guy pulled out a white hankie from his front right trouser pocket, unfolded it to a quarter size, and gave his nose some solid honks. He returned it to his pocket and we went off to our respective gates.
