Youtube Messaging

Is there any way around this irritating thing where Youtube requires people to have a google+ bwfore you can message them? I'm trying to get in to the habit of thanking those who post videos that I like (which it is really hard to do without coming across as a shark) but I'm hampered by not really wanting to deal with google. Particularly as i use gmail at work so the potential for accidental reveal is high.

Well i have google+ and i have two accounts..

And my personal one where i just say whatever.

Maybe you can make more then one. You can also make two youtube accounts with different names that connects with ur google+ account.

Yeah in the end I just created a new google account for this place, email youtube everything. Apparently someone had already pulled ShiningLight as a username so I eventually found a number to tack on the end haha.
