Forum Upgrade - Planned for Tonight!

Dear all,

I have been in communication with the hosts regarding trying to fix some of the minor issues that have been highlighted recently on the forum, namely:

They have suggested a upgrade to the latest version of the software (3.4.8, we are currently using 3.3.4) should resolve them and therefore I propose to ask them to go ahead with this as soon as possible. The upgrade is a relatively minor one and no significant changes to the way the forum operates are expected.
However, as some of the additional features that have been added to the forum e.g. Donations, 'Who's Chatting' pop-up, Profile Privacy options, etc may not be compatible with the new version of the software, these will have to be disabled to allow the upgrade to take place.
I plan to disable these items tonight at 2300 BST (1800 EST) and at that time give the hosts authority to proceed.

I am hopeful the the upgrade will take place overnight. There may be a short period of the forum being inaccessible when this happens and it will take time for the staff to check each of the additional features to ensure compatibility and/or to install updated versions.

The other reason for the upgrade is that our current version of the forum software will cease being supported as of January 1st, 2016 so this upgrade would be necessary in the near future anyway.

As has been mentioned earlier in the thread, the previous skins (Delicate Blue, IBR and Paradox) were not compatible with the new version of the forum software and this is the reason for the number of images not displaying and the quotes not displaying correctly. Therefore these skins have now been removed and anyone still using them has been reset to the default IP.Board skin.

I would have very much liked to keep the old skins, but unfortunately no updated versions of them were available. I have added a number of new skins, so hopefully everyone will find one that is to their liking.

For those who don't already know, to change skin, click on 'Change Theme' in the bottom left-hand corner of any forum page and choose the skin you would like.
