Being vetted?

What does it mean for a new member to be "vetted", and is this different in any way from being validated/pending validation?

I have just posted in your introductions thread as it happens.

The term "I am being vetted" is not a sinister one in any way. We are not checking on your private life or anything like that, if that is your concern. It is one of the many standard "member titles" that are given to members depending on the number of posts they have made. You are right in thinking that it is really just another way of saying that you haven't yet been validated.

Thanks for the answer! I thought it might have something to do with knowing established members of the forum. I do have a friend who is a member here and could vouch for me, although they haven't posted in some time.
