An Old Book I Remember

The old subconscious decided to bless me (heh) with a memory earlier today. I took a creative writing class at one point and read a romance/sci-fi novel called The Silver Metal Lover. The author's name was Tanith Lee (Vive Le Google) and from what I remember, a girl falls for a robot. At some point (and everything is hazy so bear with me) she falls ill while he's outside playing guitar. He takes her inside and cares for her because he can detect a rise in her body temperature. She's sick for awhile (again, as far as I remember) and I'd like to revisit the scenes, if someone has access to the book.
