Tell A Story With Your Voice

bloom

Recommended Posts

I had this idea a few months ago for a thread but I kept forgetting to make it, until Icarus Rex reminded me of it tonight.

The idea is that you record yourself telling a story on vocaroo and post it here. Probably the kind of story you tell should be lighthearted and funny or something along those lines, but the only real rule is that it has to be a true story, something that's happened to you or someone you know.

So without further ado, here's my contribution to the thread to kick it off: http://vocaroo.com/i/s0gbeORgYG2S

I hope this isn't too dumb an idea and that a lot of people participate, because I really love verbal storytelling and I think it's a great time!

Omg I love the story... I'm glad he didn't make a big deal about it. As soon as you started at 1:39 I was like "oh shit, here it comes..." You have a really nice voice, I hope you don't mind me saying!

Here's mine, I think it got cut off at the end:

I am CRYING. :lmfao: This is a glorious story. "Dude, no, I'm not paying you." HAHAHAHA.

You actually inspired me to tell my own pigeon story, featuring @bangbang (who can totally confirm that this is 100% true).

If I can think of a suitable story from my past, I will post here in due course, but I just wanted to say that @Spoo's impression of a talking British pigeon is the best thing ever! :D

:joal:

No, omg, compliments on my voice are my one true weakness.... thank you so much!! Your story was great, I love that he tried to force you to pay him for the privilege of having birdseed crammed into your hand, lmfao, unreal.

@Spoo, I was in hysterics over Quasimodo Pigeon, that's so fucking incredible I don't know what to say

Anyway, I'm back with another story of my own because something terrible happened to me earlier today, so here you go (it's short): http://vocaroo.com/i/s1Du49yqSNJ3

I'm so into this. I love voices SO much, and all of you have had randomly entertaining and great stories. I'm totally contributing as soon as I come up with something worth sharing. Or not worth sharing. Whatever.

Oh, wow, this is such a cool thread! ^_^ Thanks for starting it, Junes! Your story made me laugh out loud, btw! That is sooo awkward, I would have been so mortified! So congrats on remaining relatively cool! :D

I haven't listened to all of the responses yet, but I will, because I think it's super cool to actually hear people's voices! I feel like... I've kind of formed voices for some of you in my head automatically, but it's much cooler to know what your voices actually sound like and read your posts in that voice from now on. As for my own response... well... I recorded it, then listened to it again. That was my mistake! I realize that it's normal to hate your own voice on recordings, but I really really hate my voice on recordings. So much so, in fact, that I just don't want to subject the rest of you to it.

I'm really sorry! I feel like since I'm listening to all of these, I should also contribute, but I'm just much too shy. :bag: Again, sorry.

Although I thought that I would never be open about my voice here I decided to push passed the dysphoria I have concerning my voice, and contribute something to this thread as I think that it is a cool, fun one. Several different tales came to mind when I read the premise of this thread, so I may decide to record more of them later on. The one I chose to record was the very first one that popped into my head.

Please note that I meant everything in the best way possible. I simply tried to convey everything as accurately as possible to paint a vivid image for you all so that you could better envision the moment, down to appearances and movements. I have great difficulty weaving together words when I am actually speaking, so I apologize if my voice is off or if I just come off as "eh" in any way.

Anyway, without further ado, here is my story:  http://vocaroo.com/i/s12fkUxoWV6E . It is a little longer than most here due to my drawn-out manner of speaking just as a warning. Also, for some reason I referred to the chief as "the coach."

Okay, here is my beautiful story, my true to life tale of my first job interview and its poor beginnings! My voice doesn't sound super good cause I don't have a high quality mic or anything, but I copied Sen Beret's idea of adding a spectacular soundtrack to help give my story some star quality. Please enjoy my tale, and take my moral to heart, and remember that we're all super stars at the end of the day... http://vocaroo.com/i/s1xG5YXlTrSt
