Heathcliff
A while ago I did a thread on Irish music. This might be a bit more controversial but should still be ok: favourite American country songs (or recordings): 1. Steve Earle- Johnny Come Lately https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=4&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwipkfHc2sPcAhUBV8AKHSCYASwQwqsBMAN6BAgFEAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DxVaPwdgezWI&usg=AOvVaw33NvnqQBuA-KXOEWi0eMte (I could fill this list with Steve Earle but I won't) 2. Guy Clark- Sis Draper https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwi-vvKM28PcAhXpCcAKHX-FBugQyCkwAHoECAkQBQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3Dozxw_2xx5X4&usg=AOvVaw0slqkuDGrGACE0U8Iwrgrm 3. Jimmie Driftwood- The Battle of New Orleans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiNWx_IZUj8 4. Bruce Springsteen- Old Dan Tucker https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iuh96kiIU2M 5. Okay, I'm cheating: Steve Earle and the Del McCoury Band: my favourite country song, Dixieland. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKEToHVW4_0 Link to comment

PuddinPop
Country isn't my favourite genre of music by far, but I like at least a few songs from most genres, so these are some of my favourite country ones: Brantley Gilbert - Bottoms Up Darius Rucker - Wagon Wheel Sam Outlaw - Ghost Town Zac Brown Band - Colder Weather Lady Antebellum - American Honey And then I just wanted to post this because it's cute and it's super feel-good: Link to comment
gingerdean
@PuddinPop Dude, I was JUST typing out a response in this thread when you posted, and I was gonna say 'Wagon Wheel' too. What the hell 🤣🤣 I could listen to that song a hundred times over and never get tired of it. Anyway...I could post pages of songs in this thread. This city girl loves country music 👍 (Well to be fair, I'll listen to just about everything -alternative, rap, oldies, you name it) but I've got a soft spot for country for sure. I know a lot of the old-timey twangy stuff, bc my grandpa raised me on it. I love just about everything by Miranda Lambert. I feel like no matter how I'm feeling or what I'm going through, I can find a song of hers that I can relate to in any moment. (I'm not sure that speaks too highly of myself, but oh well 😅) I love Kacey Musgraves, and this song is basically my anthem for life. (fun fact -she also wrote 'Mama's Broken Heart', the vid that I posted above. ) Awesome song, awesome lyrics One of the only songs out there that will always make me cry Pure nostalgia. My grandpa used to play this...back then I thought he was really singing about soda 😂 I love just about anything by Johnny Cash. This one is a favorite @Heathcliff I also really like Steve Earle. "Guitar Town" is probably my favorite one of his. @Kaze wo Hiku "Alcohol" is the best. ☺️I'm a big fan of Brad Paisley. He's an awesome guitar player and I'd love to see him live sometime. If (when) I think of any glaring omissions, I'll probably be back to post them 🙃 Link to comment
