Hi guys! I've been absent awhile due to university/life but I'm back and ready to start a third drabble challenge. Below are my prompts which I found on someone else's drabble challenge. I'm going to start this up tomorrow after my exams, but for now, please let me know if there are any fandoms/scenarios you'd like to see play out. AN – This is just a short one because it's been awhile and I'm nervous. Ignore me lol. 

1. "Taking Precautions" 
Fandom: Merlin (BBC)
Characters/Pairings: Merlin/Arthur Pendragon

Arthur Pendragon was on a hunt and naturally, his manservant Merlin, was sick. The only sounds accompanying the horses' steps and the subsequent crunching of leaves was Merlin's near-constant sniffling. And he knew there'd be repercussions. There always were. Merlin knew he'd eventually have to sneeze and the outcome would be bad. He could just see Arthur now, glaring at him and opening his mouth to say—

"Merlin?"

Merlin's heart stopped. "Yes sire?"

"You've been sniffling all day," Arthur said as the two trotted alongside each other. 

Don't sniff, don't sniff, don't sniff, Merlin told himself. "Hmm. Have I?"

Arthur looked exasperated as the party trudged on. "Yes, you have. Are you well?"

To be fair, it was mid-winter, and Merlin could see his own breath coming out of his mouth like white smoke. He always seemed to catch cold in the winter season, and no remedy of Gaius' nor any preventative measures could help. Without thinking, Merlin sniffled. 

"I'm fine," he responded before hearing his breath catch. "Hehh... hehSHUH!" Merlin managed to turn his head to the side before another sneeze snuck up on him. "HetchSHUh!"

Arthur eased his horse to trot slower so that he was closer to his servant. "Merlin."

"Hmm?" Merlin ran his sleeve under his nose and sniffled again, quieter this time. 

"Take my cloak," Arthur said, shrugging off his extra layer and extending it to Merlin.

Merlin shook his head. "No, sire, I can't." 

"You can and you will," Arthur insisted, draping the cloak around Merlin. "I can't have you catching cold and scaring all the game away with your sneezes." 

Merlin's ears were red and he couldn't tell if it was from the cold air or something else. But in an unfortunate sequence of events, Merlin sneezed again, desperately reaching for his horse's neck to avoid falling. ""Hup'TSHH!"

"Careful," Arthur warned, giving Merlin a look. 

The look his servant returned was sheepish. "Sorry."

Yay thanks!! I should have some more by the end of the week. The two fandoms I'm feeling the most are definitely Merlin (BBC) and Captain America!

2. "Blowing Out the Candle"

The flame from the candle on Arthur's bedside table flickered and cast unpleasant shadows on the walls of his room. Merlin sat beside his master's bed, his back propped up against the table. Arthur had taken ill some days ago and — in a feverish daze — requested that Merlin stay with him through the night. Merlin was nodding off but a groan jolted him awake.

"Merlin..." Arthur moaned, turning restlessly in his sheets. "I'm so hot." 

His blond hair was matted to his forehead and his skin gleamed with the sheen of sweat. Arthur blinked as his mouth slowly stretched into a yawn and he sneezed, barely able to contain it. "Hgk'NGKKT!"

"Bless," Merlin said, quickly standing and helping Arthur sit up, his back propped by pillows. 

Arthur's eyelids fluttered shut as he snapped forward with two more sneezes. "H-hihh'NNGT! Hh'NNCH! Ugh..."

"Bless, sire," Merlin said again, pulling the sheets down to Arthur's ankles. He dipped a nearby cloth into a pitcher of water sitting on the bedside table and wrung it out slowly. Merlin brushed Arthur's sandy hair out of his face and placed the cool cloth on the man's forehead. "You're really warm."

"Mm... I know." The response was punctuated with a liquid sniffle. Arthur's eyes were glazed and shiny — more evidence of fever — and his cheeks were tinged pink. He tugged at his tunic in a futile attempt to take it off. 

"Here," Merlin said, pulling the shirt over his head. "You know, you'll cool off faster with the candle out." With a single breath, the flame dissipated.

"No!" Arthur's voice quavered. "I... I don't want the light out. It's too dark. Merlin?" His hands were blindly grabbing for something, anything. 

Merlin's hand found Arthur's, and he squeezed it. "It's OK. I'm here." 

Arthur's sigh of relief was all he needed. Merlin sat back down next to Arthur's bed and, still holding his hand, waited for him to fall back asleep.

Oh my, sick!Arthur just might be my favorite thing on the planet :) so glad you decided to write it. I love how Merlin is just the thing to comfort Arthur when he's not feeling well. Love, love.

3. Melodramatic

The guttural moan of the walkers around them made Shane’s stomach turn. With what, he didn’t exactly know. It could’ve been fear, it could’ve been excitement. Maybe it was—

“Heh’PPTSHHUH!”

The harsh sneeze was poorly stifled, so much so that Shane jumped and glared behind him. “What the fuck was that?”

Daryl shrugged, annoying. “Don’t worry about it. You’re being melodramatic.”

“The hell I am! I’ll worry about it when it fucking involves me,” Shane spat back, still whispering. 

He could see out the peephole and some walkers definitely heard the sound. “You’re going to need to stop that.”

When Daryl didn’t answer immediately, Shane snuck another glance behind him, where Daryl was also crouched. His eyes were watering fiercely and the tip of his nose and septum were pink with irritation.

“Oh no. Don’t you do it,” Shane muttered. “Don’t you fuckin’ do it.”

Daryl pressed his knuckles against the twitching underside of his nostrils. “I c-cahhh… I can’t help it, man. It’s m-my damn allergies.”

“I’m not going to get ganked because of your sissy allergies.”

“H-hihhh… I’ve g-gotta— hahH!”

Shane cursed every god he could think of as he leaned over and pinched the tip of Daryl’s nose.

“Hh’GNNNT!” The sneeze was painfully and forcibly stifled, but the sound was much less audible. Shane released him from his grip but Daryl shook his head, eyes widening.

“W-wait, I’ve got one m-more,” he whispered before gasping again. “AhH! Hah’XXXT!” With another shuddering breath, Shane continued to pinch his nose and pulled Daryl toward his chest in an attempt to muffle the sound even more. “Hh’KNNNT! Guh.”

Daryl freed himself from Shane’s embrace and shook his head, as if trying to clear the irritant from his sinuses. He scrubbed at his twitching nostrils until he felt the tickle subside.

“Next convenience store we see, we’re snagging you some goddamn Zyrtec,” Shane said, giving him a look.

4. Out for a Drive

“Hey, will you pull up a GPS on your phone or something?”

Steve and Tony are driving through Nevada in search of a nice restaurant to stop and grab a bite to eat at. They haven’t been driving for long, but the low growl coming from Tony’s stomach says it all.

“Sure thing, champ,” Tony quips. “There’s a seafood place just a few miles from here. Five stars.”

“Mmm, great,” Steve murmurs, digging through the console with one hand, his other hand placed firmly on the steering wheel.

“What’re you looking for?”

Steve grins. “A-ha!”

He grabs a tiny bottle of cologne and shows it off to Tony, still grinning. “Nat got this for me for my birthday and I’ve just been waiting for a good occasion to use it.”

Tony shrugs, truthfully disinterested. But he’d be lying if he didn’t admit that he loved the way Steve’s eyes seem to sparkle when excited. As Steve sprays the cologne in his general direction, one-handedly, Tony feels a warmth in his chest, just knowing Steve is happy in this moment. The warmth, however, soon transforms into a different feeling.

“Ooh,” Tony says, suddenly scrubbing at his nose. “I think I’m g-gonna— heh’GNNNT!” He stifles a tiny sneeze into his thumb and forefinger, rubbing roughly at his nostrils afterwards.

“Bless you,” Steve offers, dropping the bottle of cologne back into the middle compartment. “How many miles do we have?”

“A-about 1.5,” Tony says as his breath catches. He puts a finger under his flaring nostrils and Steve can’t tell if he’s trying to hold it back or coax it out.

“H-hihh… hihhH! Hh’XXXXT! Hap’SHHHH!” The sneezes come barreling out of Tony, not giving him enough time to stifle properly. He gasps and quickly rubs underneath his nose, which is quickly turning pink. His eyes are watering fiercely and God, if his nose isn’t running like a faucet.

Steve gives a him a quick side glance. “You okay?”

Tony’s sniffling repeatedly, trying to keep his runny nose at bay, but it’s just making the tickle worse. “I’m — heh’KNNNT! TSSHHH! Hahhh… hahH! Hap’XXXT!” The sneezes keep coming and at this point, Tony’s blindly groping around in the glove compartment, frantically searching for a tissue or some napkins.

“Ch-Christ,” he gasps, pressing a handful of napkins to his twitching nose. “H-heh’TSCHOOO!” 

“That’s the loudest I think I’ve heard you sneeze.”

“Ehh… h-hihhhH! Hoo,” Tony lets out a shaky breath. “Th-they’re tehhhh… t-teasing me.”

It takes the both of them far too long to figure out that it’s Steve’s new cologne that’s wreaking havoc on Tony’s sinuses. After about 12 more sneezes, Tony’s eyes are red-rimmed and watery, and Steve’s feeling guilty for not realizing sooner.

“I’m so sorry,” Steve tells him, frantically rolling down the car’s windows. “I’m sure this will help.”

“Y-you mihhh… hh’TSSSHP! You missed your turn,” Tony mutters, snuffling into the handful of napkins.

“I don’t care,” Steve says in response, handing Tony his handkerchief.

Because it’s late spring and it’s a gorgeous Wednesday afternoon, Bucky convinces Steve to accompany him to the park for a picnic. Well, it doesn’t take much convincing. Steve makes the sandwiches, just how Bucky likes them — sourdough bread, turkey, pickles, tomatoes and absolutely no mayo, under any circumstances —and Bucky brings the Zyrtec.

His allergies have always been bad, especially in the later spring months, and he knows that the medicine he has doesn’t really work for him. He tries anyway.

“No mayo?” Bucky asks, inspecting his sandwich.  

Steve smiles. “No mayo.”

They eat quietly, enjoying the sunshine and savoring the complimentary flavors of the sandwiches (Steve is an excellent sandwich-maker).

Because they eat in relative silence, Steve has no trouble noticing when Bucky’s about to sneeze. His breath catches, a slight hitch at first, followed by a shuddery exhale, then more hitching. The pollen outside wreaks havoc on his sinuses and now in particular, it feels like Bucky’s nose is just on the edge of a sneezing fit. Thanks for nothing, Zyrtec.

A gentle breeze blows by them and it’s enough to send Bucky over the edge.

“O-oh! Hih’TSSSSH! TSCHHH! Hah’PTSSSSH!” He’s holding his sandwich in one hand and he turns away from Steve when his breath catches again. “TZSSHHHOO!”

The last one comes barreling out of him and Steve feels compelled to rub his back. “That was a big one.”

Bucky sniffles into his wrist, feeling the congestion set in. “Yeah, I kdow. I f-fucking hate sd-sdeezing.”

“Aw, you already sound so stuffy,” Steve coos, putting his own sandwich down. “Did you take your meds?”

“Yeah, but you kdow they dod’t w-work,” he stammers, fighting back another series of sneezes. Bucky scrubs at his nose roughly, eventually placing a trembling knuckle under his nostrils. “H-hehhh… hahhH! Hh’TDSSSHH!”

He sighs, annoyed, and frantically rubs his raw nose, desperate to stop the itching.

“Bless Buck,” Steve murmurs into Bucky’s neck.

“Thadks,” he grumbles, rubbing his still-flaring nostrils with the heel of his palm.

Although Bucky continues to sneeze, off and on (but mostly on) throughout lunch, he’s happy — happy with Steve — and that’s what matters.

6. Waking Up Slow

“Ready for some coffee?” Steve asks Tony when he finally pads into the kitchen, mouth stretched into a wide yawn.

Tony sniffles and paws at his nose, still half-asleep. “Mmhmm.” 

Warm coffee does sound good. A warm bed wouldn’t hurt either. Tony knew he’d been coming down with something after the past few days and as of this morning, the cold had officially taken up residence in his head. 

He can feel it’s going to be a nasty, hell of a cold, and that makes him all the more anxious. Though Steve teased him, calling him melodramatic, Tony despised the kind of attention a bad cold warranted: the chest-rattling cough, ever-watering eyes, red nose and worse of all, the copious sneezing he was TK to stop. 

As the coffee finishes brewing, Tony can feel the beginnings of a sneeze creep up his sinuses, making him feel panicked.

“How’d you sleep?” Steve asks, his back toward Tony.

Tony’s nostrils flare dramatically and he quickly pinches the sneeze off for a silent stifle. Before he can answer, the urge returns and Tony bobs forward with another completely silent sneeze.

Though he didn’t hear it, Steve turns to see why Tony hasn’t answered him. Tony’s eyes are watering fiercely and he nonchalantly swipes a finger under his nose. 

“Oh, I slept good,” he says with a sheepish smile. “Sorry, still asleep.” 

Steve sets a steaming cup of coffee in front of Tony. “Problem solved.” 

As Tony sips, Steve starts opening cupboards, looking for the vanilla extract. “How about some French toast?”

“Sounds great.” 

Tony’s hardly paying attention at this point. It seems like everything he does makes him want to sneeze more: the way he tilts his head, a stray gust from the air conditioner. He gently rubs the tip of his nose in a vain attempt to alleviate the tickle, but ends up inducing a sneeze on accident. 

The first sneeze is completely silent, thanks to Tony’s thumb and forefinger. The second, follow-up sneeze betrays him. “H-hih’KNNT!” 

It’s a squeaky stifle and Steve looks at him in surprise. “Bless you!” 

Tony feels his face flush in embarrassment and takes a sip of his coffee to play it off. “Thadks.” Fuck. 

Steve stares at him. “You’re awfully congested this morning.” 

“Id’s just because id’s the—” He’s about to say “morning” before he realizes how congested he is. “—id’s just early, thad’s all.” 

Tony sniffles against the back of his hand, begging his nostrils to stop twitching. 

“Still have to sneeze?” Steve’s voice is sympathetic, but Tony’s in absolute agony. 

“B-baybe,” Tony says with a gasp. “HahH! Heh’XXXT! TSHHHOO! Guh.” He stifles the first against his knuckles and as the tickle comes rearing back full force, catches the last in his hand. He can feel his cheeks burning and it’s not from fever. 

“Bless you,” Steve clucks. “You comin’ down with something?” 

Tony gives him a watery smile before his breath catches again. “B-baybe.”

“Jesus Christ, Cap! What do you plan to do with that shied?” Tony asked, raising an eyebrow. “I know you’re not about to train right now.”

Steve snuffled into the back of his hand and wiped his nose. “Well, yeah. I happen to be.”

Steve’s nose was tinged pink, and he kept sniffling to keep the congestion at bay. Tony watched silently as he continued sniffing.

“You… want a tissue?”

“No, I don’t want a tissue!” Steve snapped, embarrassed. His face flushed red, matching his raw nose. In spite of himself, he one-handedly did tug a handkerchief out of his back pocket to catch a volley of sneezes.

“H-huhH! Huh’TSCHHH! Hah’hHTSCHHHHH!” Steve paused, straightening up a bit before catching another sneeze into the cloth. “HHPTSSCHHH!”

“Bless you,” Tony said, stepping closer. “Why don’t you put down your shield and let me fucking take care of you?”

Steve blew his nose gently and stuffed the handkerchief back in his pocket. “Because I deed to…” He cleared his throat, blushing again. “I wand to.”

Tony shook his head, reaching up to feel Steve’s forehead. Steve tried to duck away, but Tony was too quick.

“Well, you definitely have a fever. Can’t say I’m surprised,” Tony said.

Steve sniffled, bringing a shaking finger to his flaring nostrils. “H-heh… h-HIH! Hih’XXXT!”

He stifled onto his finger, still hitching. “Huh’GNNNNT!”

“Bless,” Tony sighed. “Steve, I’m not asking anymore. I’m telling you. You’re going to get undressed and watch ‘The Great British Baking Show’ with me.”

He sat on the arm of the sofa and watched Steve carefully. His nose was scrunched up, either from the need to sneeze or from the gears turning in his head.

“Mmm. OK,” Steve said, snuffling against his finger again. “Only because I love Mary Berry.”

Tony chuckled, taking Steve’s shield from his hands. “OK, big guy.”

Marceline was fumbling through the tab she was studying, her fingers tripping over each other. “Jesus. How hard does ‘Drivers License’ have to be?”

She felt her sinuses prickle and sighed, knowing what was about to happen. She continued fingerpicking through the incoming sneezes, stifling without her hands. “Hih’GNNT! Hah’MMPK!”

The last sneeze was nearly impossible to stifle, and Marcy could tell she needed to blow her nose. She snatched one from the nightstand table and blew, massaging the sizes of her nose as if she could rub away this awful cold.

“Hah’PFFFF!” She smothered the sneeze in the tissues just in time for Princess Bubblegum to open the front door.

“Oh, fuck,” Marceline muttered, wiping at her nose and shoving the balled-up tissue in her pocket.

“Marcy?”

Bubblegum took in the scene around her. Their living room was covered in used tissues, and Marceline was curled up on the couch in the middle of the chaos, bass in her lap. She saw that Marcy’s nose was tinged pink and knew instantly that she’d caught a cold.

“I—” Marceline cleared her throat, sitting up straighter. “I thought said you wouldn’t be back for another two days.”

“Right…” Bubblegum said, trailing off. “Well, I wanted to come home earlier to surprise you. Are you…?”

“Am I what?” Marceline snapped, her face flushing.

Bubblegum smiled softly, gesturing at the spot next to her. “Mind if I sit down?”

Marcy snarled softly, turning away to rub at her irritated nose. She felt Bubblegum’s hand float down to the small of her back.

“You OK?”

Marceline sniffled, dragging the entire back of her hand underneath her nose. “Yeah. Just don’t feel good.”

Right on cue, Marcy felt her sinuses prickle again. “I— I’m g-gonna sneeze,” she choked out, twisting herself out of Bubblegum’s arms.

“H-hihhh… hh’TSHHH!”

The first sneeze escaped unscathed, but Marceline quickly pinched her nose between her thumb and forefinger to stifle the others. “Hah’KKNTTT! HihH! Hih’SHHP!”

Bubblegum felt her stomach spasm. What was this emotion she was feeling? To her own dismay, she felt her cheeks flush.

“O-oh! Bless you!” She exclaimed, placing her hand on Marceline’s thigh.

“Ugh,” Marcy groaned, using the palm of her hand to scrub at her nose. “This cold is killing be.”

“Aw, you sound so congested,” Bubblegum smiled in spite of herself. “Does your nose hurt right here?”

Marceline tried to duck out of her way, but Bubblegum’s fingers traced the edges of her red-rimmed nostrils anyway.

“H-huhHH!” Marcy gasped, panicked. “D-dod’t! I’b godda sd-sdeeze!”

“Go ahead,” Bubblegum whispered into her ear.

“H-hehH! Hh’TPSCHHHH!” She scrambled away from Princess Bubblegum, shakily bringing her hands to her face. “PTSHHH! HahH! Hh’GNNNT!”

“PB, whad the heck?” Marceline snuffled, snatching the ratty tissue out of her pocket and dabbing at her nose.

“I was just observing,” she said, shrugging. “The skin just looked… irritated.”

“Well, id was,” Marcy sniffled, leaning into Bubblegum’s shoulder.
