I was just wondering how people sneeze. So here's a survey! Whether it be preference or habit!

Anything unique about how you sneeze?:

I'll go first. When inducing I like to flare my nostrils as big as possible(I already have pretty large nostrils) and let out an uncovered full nose sneeze to get as much mess. Sure it may hurt with the first few cleaner, dryer sneezes but once the nose starts going it REALLY feels amazing.

3. Mouth sneezes or Nose sneezes? - If by mouth sneezes, you mean letting them out naturally and making a big ACHOO sound, than yes, mouth sneezes
4. Messy sneezes or clean? - Does spray count as messy? Or needing to blow afterwards? If so, than yes. Otherwise, it can occasionally happen if my nose is very runny
5. Covered or uncovered? - Uncovered if alone, covered if anyone is even remotely nearby
6. (IF) Covered, with a hanky or into hands/arm? - Usually under the collar of my shirt

8. Nose rubbing before/after sneeze? - I sometimes rub it after a sneeze
9. Nose blowing? - Often. Sneezing tends to make my nose run

   - Never, except for in a crowd.

   - Never, when I need to stifle, I block my sinuses without needing to pinch my nose.

   - It's a mix between the two.
4. Messy sneezes or clean ?
   - It depends on the intensity of the cold.
5. Covered or uncovered ?
   - Covered in public and uncovered when I'm home alone.
6. (IF) Covered, with a hanky or into hands/arm ?
   - Always in the hands.

   - Only when I try to silently stifle.
8. Nose rubbing before/after sneeze ?
   - It all depends on the context and the intensity of the tickling.

   - Very very rarely.

    - If I understood the question correctly, it depends mainly on the intensity.

    - I may have done this instinctively once or twice before sneezing on the phone.

    - Often, but again, it all depends on the context.
13. Big Loud sneezes or more petite ones ?
    - Big and loud or medium.
14. Spelling of sneeze if possible ?
    - I have several different ones. As always, it depends on the buildup, intensity and context. I have already had... ATCHooo or HETSHIIIEWww or HAa-RCHIEW or etc...

    - If I try to hold back yes, they are rather long.
16. Hitching of breath/speech ?
    - I don't quite understand that last question, sorry.

I don't often have a big bad cold, but when it does happen to me, I can be a real cataclysm that is best avoided.

   If I'm within earshot of other people, but not visible I usually stifle completely silently because I don't want to be heard unless it's my boyfriend.

   There's usually no need to. Over the summer, there have been times when I've been on my lunch breaks and I'd muffle it so if there was by chance anyone in the parking lot, they wouldn't hear it. At best it would probably have been a half-stifle, though. Otherwise I don't stifle.

   No.

   Probably more mouth.

I love things like that so let's go:

1. Yes I stifle when I'm in public but I don't when I'm at home or with people I feel comfortable around.

2. Yes that's how I stifle. I couldn't stifle without using my hands.

3. I think it's a combination of both but a little more nose than mouth.

4. Clean sneezes. I don't really like messy sneezes.

5. Most of the time covered but when I'm alone I almost always sneeze towards the floor so I don't know if that is considered covered or not.

6. Covered into the sleeves of my shirts most of the time.

7. No I don't do that.

8. I always rub it after the sneeze and sometimes also before the sneeze.

9. No nose blowing most of the time.

10. No I never have rapid fits. Sometimes I sneeze like maybe 3 or 4 times but I don't think that is a fit.

11. Yeah sometimes because I love when people say that so I also say it sometimes.

12. Yes I always sniffle after sneezing.

13. I would say it's somewhere in between. My sneezes are definitely not quiet but they are also not extremely loud so I would say they are intense and loud but also girly if that makes sense.

14. Okay so people always tell me my sneezes almost sound like there is a part missing because my build ups are so quiet. I think it would look like hhh chiew.

15. No like I said my build ups are not long and really quiet.

16. My breath only hitches one or two times before I sneeze.

Anything unique about my sneezes:

I don't think there is anything unqiue about my sneezes except maybe the fact that sometimes after I sneezed once or twice and I think it would feel really nice to keep sneezing I really end up sneezing a few more times. Oh and I also can make the urge to sneeze get away by just thinking I don't want to sneeze right now. Believe me that has kept me from many embarrassing situations.

9. Nose blowing? Only when I’m sick or have been inducing
10. Rapid fits? Only when I’m sick, then it’s usually 4-8 sneezes
11. "I need to sneeze"/"I'm gonna sneeze" before sneezing? No way
12. Sniffling? Only when I’m sick
13. Big Loud sneezes or more petite ones? Medium sneezes
14. Spelling of sneeze if possible? Haven’t sneezed out loud enough to know the spelling
15. Long buildups? All the time when I have a cold
16. Hitching of breath/speech? Happens when I induce or get a cold

Anything unique about how you sneeze?:  My mental block is really strong and I can stop a tickle by not wanting to sneeze.

3. i think i’m more of a mouth sneezer! 

4. i typically have more “clean” sneezes but sometimes a lot of snot will come out... which is both a bit gross but VERY satisfying lol

5. covered, although if i’m outside and not around anyone i do sometimes do uncovered sneezes

7. after a sneezing fit, i usually will wipe my nose with my finger

10. i almost always sneeze in threes. actually, not long ago i had a looong sneezing for where i literally could not sneezing for about five minutes. i had no idea why lol. i sneezed at least 15 times in a row, and then several more times afterwards. 

11. “i’m about to sneeze” although usually i don’t say anything because actually saying the word irl makes me feel anxious... lolololll

13. my sneezes are always loud! i’ve always wanted to sneeze quietly because that seems “cuter” to me but alas
