sleeping next to someone with a bad cold. the hum of the humidifier. the strong scent of vicks vaporub fills the room. constant sniffles. coughs and sneezes muffled into pillows/blankets. tossing and turning. heavy mouth breathing. forehead sweaty from their fever. tired watery eyes. red chapped nose. flared nostrils. rubbing their nose against you. crumpled up tissues littered across their side of the bed, spilling on the floor. the stuffy noises they make as a result of not being able to breath through their nose because their sinuses are so plugged up, no matter how many times they blow their nose. the sound of a cough drop clinking in their mouth hitting their teeth
