I found a Greek spelling and Celtic spelling and went for the Celtic2. Athena (I LOVE this name- but I wouldn't use it unless I adopted- doesn't seem to fit ethicity-wise)3. Aiysha (I'd look up how to spell it if I were to adopt and the name fit- seems more ethnic than for say a girl like me because I LOVE this too)4. Jennifer was the name that I wanted as a teen5. SomethingClever
I've always loved unusual names, or names with stories attached to them... perhaps because of my parents, who named my siblings and I after Beatles songs and albums (I kid you not, we are, in age order- Abbey, Maxwell, Molly, Sadie, and Jude)anyway...Boys-EvanSkylerXanderHarryAscherGirlsMayaHarperSkyeZorinCassia Link to comment
a red nine
I've always loved unusual names, or names with stories attached to them... perhaps because of my parents, who named my siblings and I after Beatles songs and albums (I kid you not, we are, in age order- Abbey, Maxwell, Molly, Sadie, and Jude)I usually tend to hate themed or matching names, but I definitely approve of your parents' system. Just Older
I used to love looking at baby name books. When I was in high school, the people at bookstores and libraries always used to look at me like I was insane, having a baby so young. Salamander
IsmaëlNikolajLeanderSeconded, VoOs! Either Nikolaj or Niklas. I used to love the names, Olivia, Archie, and Alfie. Then I worked with children. The years I spent in childcare Olivia and Oliver were the most popular names for boys and girls born that year. So I spent my whole time going "Olivia stop it! Stop hitting Oliva. Now, where's Oliver? Over there with Oliver and Olivia." You could move for Olivias, Archies and Alfies. Put me right off. I also went off flower names for the same reason. My classroom had Daisy, Lily, Poppy, Rosy, Rosie, Daisy again. So, my favourites? For Boys-RobinTobiasMatthaisNathanielKit (short for christopher)Kay (as in Sir Kay)RexFor Girls-SilviaHazelAdelaideand...Lexie (short for Alexandra) It's old fashioned all the way around here. Jorm
I almost included Hazel, it's definitely another one of my favourites (as well as being my Nan's name), but it didn't quite make the cut. Link to comment
starpollen
Obviously I have put more thought into boys' names than girls. And obviously I want to make up my own name lol. My kid's teachers would hate having to try to pronounce it on the first day of school. And my kid would totally hate me (if I had one) for not being able to find their name on a keychain or a pencil. Salamander
Hi Starpollen, hadn't noticed you around here for a while. I love Anwyn as a name, but it reminds me of the hell-type place in the Black Cauldron books! Are any of your family welsh?(Mr.Sal's family are irish, so we could have some lovely Irish names for our kids.) Link to comment
