If I Die Young by The Band Perry

Bow you're head, they're pious here

But you and I, we're pioneers

Wild Things by Alessia Cara (easily my favorite song by her, although I had to double check bc apparently I've been mispronouncing pious forever :blush:)

~~~~~
Sixteen, and you never even judged me
Matter fact I always thought you were too cool for me
Sitting there in the caravan
All the nights we were drunk on the floor
And yet you understand
Yeah, like no one can
It's "Army", Ellie Goulding, right?
Your footsteps are heartbeats, there's knocking at my door
I swore that I won't let you in
Love's got its heroes, but I know that I just can't hold out forever
I Come Undone- Jennifer Rush
Life is fine every time
Thoughts of you leave my head
I was wrong, now I find
Just one thing makes me forget
Ub40- “Red Red Wine”
Once I rose above the noise and confusion
just to get a glimpse beyond this illusion
I was soaring ever higher
but I flew too high
Carry on my Wayward Son by Kansas
***
I gotta holler just to be heard
With every word, I drop knowledge
I'm a diamond in the rough, a shiny piece of coal
Tryin' to reach my goal my power of speech, unimpeachable
My shot- Hamilton
Hello again, it’s you and me,
kinda like it always used to be,
sippin wine killin time
tryin to solve life’s mysteries
(First season Criminal Minds fans: This song was used in a horrifying but amazingly creative way! I know y’all remember.)
Elvis Presley, “Suspicious Minds”
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
ahem. This is Iris by the Goo Goo Dolls :zippy:
From my chest, to my head
To the breath on your neck
Silhouettes and regrets
Now replace you instead
'Stand Atlantic -- Sidewinder'
I laughed harder than I should have at that picture, Puddin'!
So, let those funny people smile
How can there be a virgin isle with
Diga diga doo, diga doo doo
Diga Diga Doo - Big Bad Voodoo Daddy (but as far as I understand, there are several versions of this song..?)
You brought about my ruin
You spread yourself over my skin
Down my legs, over my mouth
You steal everything but you don't get my love
Dark Hearts and Heartbeats -Shirley Manson
(I actually used to think this was Garbage until I double checked, and oops, wrong. Solo effort by Manson. Gahh, I love her :heart:)
When you hit the ground, check the lost and found
'Cause it ain't my problem now
I can't carry it all, I've got a lot of troubles of my own
It's all over the yard, in the trunk of the car
I'm packin' it in, so come and get it
“Always True To You In My Fashion” by Cole Porter (from his musical Kiss Me, Kate)
I'm young and I love to be young
I'm free and I love to be free
To live my life the way I want
To say and do whatever I please
You Don’t Own Me by Grace and G-Eazy
It's clear from your vacant expressions
The lights are not all on upstairs
But we're talking kings and successions
Even you can't be caught unawares
Not sure the name but that's from Lion King!
Lay down your sweet and weary head
Night is falling you have come to journey's end
Sleep now and dream of the ones who came before
They are calling from across a distant shore
@Reader, that wasn’t at all the answer I was expecting, even though it’s clearly correct! I had no idea there was more than one version (the Lesley Gore one I was expecting)! Now I need to look up “your” version.
(Also, @RediChalyn, just so you know, the idea is to identify the song, not just where you know it from. Sorry if I confused this by mentioning Kiss Me, Kate.)
Twenty One Pilots! "Lane Boy"! I saw them live right before Blurryface came out and blew them up!
Here are lyrics from one of my favorite songs! All the lyrics are good, I had trouble picking the ones I wanted:
I've been waiting many hours
By the silent moon
In the wild, the jungle flower
Your toxic perfume
Tell my friends I'm gone, it's true
I've passed on now
To the eyes of a dark, lost blue
Firelight by Young The Giant
Here’s Mine:
I talk a lot of shit when I'm drinking, baby
I'm known to go a little too fast
Don't mind all my friends, I know they're all crazy
But they're the only friends that I have
I know I don't know you
But I'd like to skip the small talk and romance, girl
The Vamps - Can We Dance (I had to look that one up, but I thought the lyrics sounded familiar. :lol: )
Alright, let's see if anyone gets this one... please tell me someone gets this one...
This time, we know, we all can stand together
With the power to be powerful
Believing we can make it better
We're all someone's daughter, we're all someone's son
How long can we look at each other
Down the barrel of a gun?
Castielangel accidentally skipped over RediChalyn's song, so because I want to get everything up to date (even if I have to use Google to do it)...
Reader's song was "Be Prepared", by Jeremy Irons (and is indeed from The Lion King),
RediChalyn's song was "Into the West" by Annie Lennox (from Lord of the Rings),
and Chanel_no5's song is "You're the Voice" by John Farnham.
And my lyrics are...
There was nothing in sight, the memories left abandoned,
There was nowhere to hide, the ashes fell like snow,
And the ground gave in between where we were standing,
And your voice was all I heard, that I get what I deserve.
Linkin Park - New Divide
I like to play the drums.
I think I'm getting good, but I can handle criticism.
I'll show you what I know
And you can tell me if you think I'm getting better on the drums.
This is Doctor Worm by They Might Be Giants, right?? I don't think I've heard that in almost 10 years!!
This group is super popular in Portland but I don't know about the rest of the world!
"Can you catch up to the cars on the highway?/ Run them down/ Can you throw yourself off of an airplane?/ Breath ripped out"
I had to look the lyrics for this one up, but I only did it because I enjoy this sort of game and I'm hoping I can help bring it back. The song is Signal, by Sylvan Esso.
And my lyrics are:
There are ends we've all got
That can justify the means,
We negotiate
Then fabricate
The facts behind the scenes.
Keeping all the details vague and secrets hidden
Safe from the balance sheet of those you trust.
